Our Women’s side have finally discovered their opponents for the upcoming season in the Somerset County Women’s Football League Division 3 North.

The league will consist of:

• Hengrove Athletic Ladies

• Winscombe Ladies

We’re excited to test ourselves against a strong mix of familiar rivals and new opposition as we look ahead to another exciting campaign.

In our second season back in the SCWL, we’ll be aiming to build on last year’s 4th place finish and continue our progress as a squad.

Every game will bring a new challenge, and we can’t wait to get started. ⚽️

Bryoni was a constant threat on the Taunton goal.
Scoring a goal and unlucky not to finish the game with a hatrick.

We had some decent passages of play and created plenty of chances which unfortunately we didn’t finish.

Our Golden Boot winner, Bryoni Teddy, returns to the squad this afternoon and will be hoping to pick up where she left off by adding to her goal tally.

We’re also delighted to have another debut, Kerensa Main, who has progressed through our youth setup and takes the next step into the women’s team. It’s another proud moment for both Kerensa and the club as we continue to develop our own talent.

Unfortunately our opening preseason fixture ended with a 2-1 defeat.

Pre-season is all about results on the training ground rather than the final score.
There were plenty of positives to take from today’s game despite the defeat.

Every minute together helps us grow as a team, build fitness, and continue to develop the style of football we want to play ahead of the new season.
The effort, commitment and attitude from the squad never dropped, and that’s something we can build on.
It was also great to see debuts for new recruits, Holly Mitchell, Aurelia Tlusciak and Chloe Mullins, all coming on and making a positive impact.
Well done Ladies 👏

Our goal was a team effort, the ball was worked from the back, Izzy Mullins with a switch of play into the path of Grace Edwards, her shot was parried and Izzy Smith pounced with a deft touch past the opposition keeper ⚽️

A big thank you to Downend Flyers for a competitive game, we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
And also thank you to everyone who came along to support us. Your backing means a lot. 🙌

Our Women completed their league fixtures with a win at home against Sporting Weston Vixens.

Pam Adedeji opened the scoring, assisted by Isabel Smith, a rocket strike which the keeper was unable to keep out! ⚽️

Midway through the half, Sporting equalised through a strike with a lucky bobble which squirmed past Keeper, Els Davies.

The second half was dominated by Mendip,
They took the lead through Mia Haslett, when she got on the end of a cross from Emma Proudfoot. ⚽️
Top scorer Bryoni Teddy doubled the lead, assisted by debutant Mia Haslett. ⚽️

There were several chances to increase the lead but for the visitors keeper and some cracking saves.

Mendip now sit fourth in the table teams around them still with games to play this may not be their final position.
Never the less a successful first season back in women’s football for our women.

We head into a run of freindly fixtures to finish off the season before the summer break ☀️

A few of our teams were in action this weekend, with two cup semi finals on Saturday, involving the Black and Red Jets, unfortunately both were beaten on penalties.

On Sunday the u18s were awarded a home win, the Red Stars, Blue and Black Sox all drew their matches whilst the Pink Sox won, and are our team of the weekend with a 4-2 win against Larkhall Athletic.
